5 Tips for planning your wedding during a global pandemic

1. Research Venues

If you haven’t booked your venue yet, you could start researching online. Narrow it down to less than five. For me, three is the magic number! If you look at too many it can get very confusing. Some venues are now offering virtual tours so this will give you a head start and possibly help you come to a decision.

2. Think about what suppliers you still need to book….

So you’ve already booked your venue, what about those key suppliers? Photographer, Band, Cake etc. I always recommend you book your suppliers as soon as you confirm your venue. Given the current situation, I couldn’t stress this enough. A lot of weddings have moved over to 2021 and it’s set to be a very busy year. You need to be prepared that a lot of your favourite suppliers’ diaries will fill up extra quickly, especially on popular dates. Sit down together and make a list of what you need and prepare to tick it off.

3. Research Online

Once you have your list of preferred suppliers you should check out their social media pages/website. Are they active on their pages? There will be reviews on Facebook, check out what their customers/clients are saying about them. Social media is great for getting to know the person behind the business this will really help you narrow down your choices.

4. Ask for help….

If you’re struggling to make a list of potential suppliers I would recommend you contact your venue. They will have experience working with suppliers every day. You could also ask any suppliers you have already booked if they can recommend anyone. Friends and family are always willing to give their advice, whether it’s wanted or not, so ask around.

5. Make Contact

Once you have narrowed down your list get in touch with your favourites to check availability and receive quotes. This is a great way to figure out if you want to work with them. How were their response times? Did they seem like someone you would want to work with? If you are still struggling perhaps you could ask for a video call or phone call. Sometimes it helps to “meet” to see if you’re on the same page. Once you’re happy you want to work with them, secure your booking with deposit. Once you have your suppliers secured you can relax, look forward to your big day and spend all your time on Pinterest planning the details!
